London Street Photography Festival

As people are getting back to their homes from a wonderful adventure at this years Format Festival (‘Right Here, Right Now’ – Exposures from the public realm) opening in Derby, UK, attention will no doubt soon be pointing towards the upcoming London Street Photography Festival.

The festival, which runs from 7th-17th July 2011 will feature shows from the likes of Nick Turpin, Nils Jorgensen and the UK premiere of photography from the Vivian Maier archive, in addition to two open competitions: International Award and the Student Award and much more.

The above slideshow is just a selection of the images already submitted to the International Award, which has a deadline of the 31st of March, which is fast approaching. More details below.

 

International Award – Application deadline: 31 March 2011
The International Street Photography Award is looking for the world’s best street photographer as part of the first annual London Street Photography Festival in 2011.
The international winner will receive £1,000 cash PLUS an all-expenses paid trip to the exhibition launch and awards ceremony in London. Total value: £2,500, unused travel money is added to the cash prize.
Open to photographers from anywhere in the world, and photographs may be taken anywhere.

 

Student Award – Application deadline: 31 March 2011
Open to all students aged 18 and over, living in the UK and studying on any full or part time course at a UK institution.
Six finalists will be selected to take part in a one-day workshop with celebrated street photographer Nils Jorgensen and work together to produce an all-expenses-paid group show at the Orange Dot Gallery in Bloomsbury. An overall winner will be awarded a fantastic Olympus PEN camera.
