Street Reverb & HCSP – A New Direction

©Chuck Patch

A few weeks ago, the current moderators of the Hardcore Street Photography (HCSP) group on Flickr began discussing creating a presence outside of Flickr. I suggested using Street Reverb and they agreed.

Our intention is to promote discourse around the practice of street photography and showcase interesting new work from around the globe, while retaining the energy and vibrance of HCSP

In a recent interview about street photography Sophie Howarth brought up several salient points about the current movement in street photography.  The web has played an influential role in the recent resurgence because its allowed an eclectic mix of photographers from around the globe to come together, share knowledge and collaborate.  Those of us who have participated in HCSP over the years have experienced this type of collective energy and want to help it spread.

We believe that HCSP has carved out a unique position in the street photography community.  Now it’s time to evolve and move beyond the confines of Flickr.  What started out as a small Flickr group now reverberates throughout the street photography community.  We hope you join us for the ride.

Hopefully you guys will really reach out to street photographers all around the world, because even though I highly enjoy the works displayed in HCSP, sometimes I get the feeling like it’s based on only one kind of sensibility. I believe that different geography and cultures will also create different and diverse kinds of street photography and I look forward to seeing all that covered in this future move of yours. I’ll definitely wait in anticipation!

I klike the thought-process and I like whats been published at SRM already, it’s a great complimentary and alternate idea, concept and output to HCSP. I’m looking forward to reading and seeing more.
