“Every once in a while I hear somebody talk about the SP gods being kind or unkind regarding the relatively lucky or unlucky elements in a particular photograph. I guess I am an SP atheist, or some shit, because I believe there is no god, and only dumb luck. Day after day, week after week, I try to eliminate as much luck as I can, in a concentrated effort to make a good picture. In most cases I fail, and in very few and far between instances I succeed.
