Manu Thomas – Suburbia
“I am fascinated by the visual richness of suburbia. Its various moods and playfulness, the buzz which it carries from city, the calmness and peace and greenery it gains towards the rural. I saw the life of people and their beliefs to which it is tied, the rush of the festivals and its associated glitters. I saw working kids who are forced to go through garbages in wastelands. I saw kids enjoying in fields, kids going to school at early hours, having their morning snacks from roadside vendors. I met working people who earns their daily bread by immense physical labour. I saw people who struggle to carry their lives, their hopelessness. I saw the expanding face of city penetrating into suburbia. This collection of photos is my effort to capture the mood that flashes across the face of suburbia, revealing its inner beauty amidst tremendous toil.”
